We live in Sheffield but always on the look out around Yorkshire for seasonal activities and I think we’ve found some brilliant ones for Christmas 2022!
First up is The Snowman tour – a special screening of the family-favourite, accompanied by a live orchestra.
Presented by Carrot Productions – the world’s leading performers of The Snowman film with live orchestra – .their award-winning show features some of the UK’s finest musicians.
Alongside The Snowman, enjoy The Flight Before Christmas – the sensational new Shaun the Sheep film staged with live orchestra for the first time! Shaun’s seasonal excitement turns to dismay when a farmhouse raid to get stockings for the Flock goes wrong. Prepare for a ‘Santastic’ adventure suitable for all ages, as everyone learns the true value of Christmas!
This magical award-winning show, set within the splendour of Sheffield City Hall is ideal for the whole family to enjoy together, and is sure to create cherished memories. Sheffield City Hall, Wednesday 14 December, 1.30pm and 6.30pm, Tickets from £13 and you can book your tickets here.
Secondly is RHS Glow 22 at Harlow Carr. See the garden in breathtaking beauty as amazing illuminations light your way on a spectacular Glow trail.

Chatsworth Christmas Market is always a winner. With over 100 market stalls offering a wide range of Christmas gifts and decorations, it’s a great way to start the festive season.
There are plenty of food stalls too so you can enjoy a mulled wine or a German beer at one of the outdoor bars, whilst enjoying gourmet burgers and sausages, hot pork rolls, pancakes and churros.
If you are a fan of the film, you will love The Polar Express. This is definitely on our wishlist for this year.
The journey begins just like the film, when THE POLAR EXPRESS™ will pick you up at Leeming Bar station to take you to the North Pole. You will get to meet the characters from the film including the conductor, the singing chefs, the hobo and of course the main man himself Father Christmas. You and your family, hopefully dressed in PJs, will experience a fun filled theatrical adventure as you make your way to the North Pole.
Throughout your journey you may tangle with the caribou and other magical happenings, as you have the original story of THE POLAR EXPRESS™ told to you by the singing Chefs before arriving at the North Pole to meet Santa Claus.
The lovely team at Curious Kids Town are also running their Christmas events again this year and it was just pure magic last year. You can book via their events page here and read all about our experience last year here.
I hope this gets you in the spirit with a few Christmassy ideas! We are getting our tickets booked as it will be the season before we know it!
