There are some days that I can hardly believe my luck that my hobby of instagram and my blog allows us to try lovely new things and experience amazing places and it was no exception when The Ivy Harrogate reached out to see if I’d like to try their exclusive set menu as part of the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out initiative during August 2020.
We live in Sheffield so it was just an hour to get to beautiful Harrogate for a lovely day trip. As we recently celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary but couldn’t do much (Covid restrictions!) this felt like the perfect opportunity to have some couple time and Harry went off to my parents for garden fun.
This was the first time we had eaten out since March so I was a little apprehensive but I didn’t need to be. The minute we arrived at The Ivy Harrogate, we were greeted by a colleague behind a screen. We were then asked to use the digital temperature checker (it’s a camera so really easy and quick!) We then used the hands free (all by foot pump!) hand sanitiser and were shown to our table by one of The Ivy Harrogate’s team.
We were located on the outdoor terrace which was beautiful and perfect for a sunny day but equally we checked out the main restaurant and there was plenty of space between tables. The team were all super careful and gave plenty of space when passing each other and customers.
Menus are sanitised after every use but you can also use a QR code to view the menu on your mobile if you prefer. There was a handy hand sanitiser on the table so we could keep topped up too.
We’ve never eaten at The Ivy before but the experience was really special. Despite the fact staff were being careful and there as spacing between tables, this didn’t affect the atmosphere at all and it was just so lovely to enjoy a meal out.
We ate from the exclusive set menu which is 2 courses for £30 or 3 courses for £35 and this is included in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme so is especially good value. The Government scheme offers half price off all food and soft drinks up to the value of £10 per person every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, on all menus at The Ivy Harrogate.
Ben chose the brasserie’s crispy duck salad and I had the Yellowfin Tuna Carpaccio for starters before we both enjoyed the mouth-watering roast beef fillet and their famous melting chocolate bombe.
I hope you can see what an enjoyable experience it was from our photos, please rest assured if you are looking to eat out, The Ivy Harrogate has you covered and felt completely safe at all times. It’s also the perfect time to eat out at a fantastic price!
Let me know if you go ahead and book a table and let me know what you think! We can’t wait to go back again and take Harry (the restaurant is completely family friendly with a children’s menu too!)
A special thanks to Mark and Abbie at The Ivy Harrogate for making us so welcome!
