I’m one of those people who really enjoys make up and love applying it but other than my parents buying me some palettes and goodies at birthdays and Christmas (my mum has excellent taste in make up) I rarely buy it for myself and when I do it’s topping up supplies of things I’ve had for ages.
I was in the market for a concealer; I say that like I normally use one but I only us one for covering blemishes rather than under the eye area. With a busy job and a two year old who still doesn’t love sleep as much as I do, I decided to look for a solution for the under eye black bin liners under my eyes.
I love watching Bobbi Brown Pro Hannah Martin on YouTube and one of my fave instagrammers Lauren at Hunters and Heels recently started making videos on her channel so I was watching eagle eyed for make up hints and tips. What was originally me wanting concealer turned into me realising I needed a little overhaul. I was very ready for a new foundation and who doesn’t need a new blusher ?
Bobbi Brown had an online offer so i treated myself to some goodies. I went a little wild with an array of items to try but I’m so glad I did.
kin Foundation Stick in Cool Ivory.
Full Cover “better than sleep” concealer in Cool Sand.
Nude Finish Illuminating Powder in Bare
Pot Rouge in Pale Pink
Longwear Cream Shadow Stick in Pink Sparkle and Heather Steel.
I’ve found the foundation gives me a much more even tone to my skin and isn’t at all drying. Being a stick application it’s really handy to pop in your bag and touch up if you need throughout the day. However as an example, I applied a light foundation coverage and the illuminating powder at 5am in the morning last week, travelled on a train to London, used the tube, attended a 6 hour meeting (during which I presented twice!), further tubes and trains to travel back home, arriving into the house at 9pm and I hadn’t touched up my face once (other than Lippy). I still felt the coverage was good and I looked fresh faced – that’s an astounding 17 hour wear – absolute winner from me.
The illuminating powder is light and super easy to apply by stippling across my make up base with a wide blusher brush and the full coverage concealer…what can I say. I feel so much more confident with it. It adds a brightness to my face that isn’t there in the mornings and it lasts well. I still want to try a corrector to compare the difference but for an everyday brightness it’s wonderful.
Pot rouge is a cream blusher that can be used across your make up routine. It adds a real dewy freshness to my cheeks and some brightness on my lips. There are a range of colours that I’m keen to try but Pale Pink is a lovely bright pink that suits my fair skin and blonde hair.
Overall, I’m delighted with my new bag of tricks. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still a lot missing from my make up bag (cue eye liners, new lipsticks etc) but I’ve started as I mean to go on and now have some great tools to give me a fresh faced look everyday. I did splurge but I work hard and a treat was in order. Skincare will be my next addition to my dressing table!
If you are looking for products and unsure what colours to choose for your skin tone, visit a Bobbi Brown concession or standalone store, I did to get my colour match and the foundation and concealer are perfect for me.
I also just wanted to note that I purchased all of these products myself and in no way am affiliated with Bobbi Brown cosmetics (although I wish I was as they are quite frankly amazing!) I just wanted to share with you what I’m using and loving at the moment!
To get some inspiration on the products and how easily they are applied, take a look at BB Pro Hannah Martin on Instagram HERE and watch some of her YouTube videos – its addictive!
You can find Lauren’s Instagram at Hunters and Heels HERE and watch her videos too. She’s just started her channel and her videos are fab – so relaxing and inspiring for hair, make up and skincare for busy mums, and women in general.
I’ve included a photo to demonstrate before and after. You can see how much brighter and fresher the products make me look (and feel!)
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and if you would like to see more about my loves in hair, make up etc please let me know!
